Wintering Distribution

Sakers are partial migrants over their global breeding range.  Some birds (usually adults) are resident the whole year in the breeding region.  Others migrate (often juveniles) to more southerly wintering areas.  Birds can be found on passage between summer and winter areas.  The distribution map above shows the breeding range in dark red and the wintering areas in lighter red.
